on an island in the sun...
A Jaded American
Ha, long time no see, huh?

Bet you have been wondering what is going on in the life of Anne.

To let you know... nothing.

Nothing at ALL.

No parties, no drinking, no sex (no comments), no television even.

I barely have a chance to watch television, and it's usually when it's my down week at work. Which is hardly ever anymore, seems like. So now, I'm behind on all the shows, on everything.

Hell, I thought signign up for the NYTimes daily email would keep me updated, but you know what they feature the most?

I have three words for you:

Bush.

Terrorism.

War.

That's it.

And it BARELY covers anything about science, or anything REMOTELY interesting in the arts and entertainment section.

Hell, do we have nothing else better to report? I hate it when the country has gone to "war." There is nothing interesting to read. I sometimes wonder if we create these wars because our damn government is so freakin' ass bored, that it has nothing else BETTER TO DO WITH THEIR TIME OR OUR TAX MONEY!

It's like my friend bluenadia6 had said in her entry about not being an American in her heart. I'm so jaded with the ways and woes of American idealism, that, deep down inside, I feel as if I were born in the wrong country.

On the other hand, living in Hawaii... it's like being IN another country. Take into consideration Iolani Palace (the only Royal palace in the country (no the homes of the Kennedy's don't count)), the statues of previous Hawaiian Kings, most of the street names are Hawaiian (unless you are in or near a Military Base), the food, and the people we have are such a melting pot, that it doesn't feel like we are in the U.S. Even our accents are totally different and the way we use slang and words.

I guess it's the same everywhere...

...but somehow in Hawaii....

It IS different.
